Cultural and community festival Nordic Dragon Põhja Konn

The first cultural and community festival Nordic Dragon Põhja Konn takes place on 18-25 September 2023 both in and around the premises of Viimsi ARTIUM as well as in different locations of natural beauty of the Viimsi peninsula and its surrounding islands (Naissaare).

The festival aims at building a strong and welcoming community that invites people -friends and families, both children and adults – to get outside, share artistic and cultural experiences, embrace the beauty of the environment and our shared humanity. At the festival, we hope to meet both locals from Viimsi, Tallinn and the rest of Estonia as well as members of the global community. The festival program features both local and international guest performers and musicians. During the festival week, the audience can explore music, stage performances, seminars, art exhibitions, various workshops, nature walking tours and much more.

Põhja Konn

Põhja Konn is a mythological creature – our own Nordic dragon, who, according to legend, is said to have been covered with stone and iron scales, and whose eyes gleamed brighter than a thousand candles. Anyone who looked in the eye of the dragon was instantly mesmerized by him. The dragon is believed to be soundly asleep somewhere deep underground, undisturbed by the hustle and bustle of modern life. Why not in the woods behind the venue of Artium, where both a sculpture and a staircase have been erected in honor of this primordial creature, who reminds us of our ancient roots that link the past with the present?
