On 26 September, the a cappella ensemble The HOUSE JACKS, one of the selected music groups of the American Music Abroad program of the US Department of State, will perform at Viimsi Artium at the invitation of the US Embassy.
Founded in 1991, The House Jacks instantly redefined what people thought of as “vocal music.” Combining their virtuosic harmonies with spectacular stagecraft, these world-class performers continue to push the boundaries of the human voice.
Founder Deke Sharon sought to create the first “rock band without instruments,” employing a deep bass and a beatboxer as a vocal rhythm section and developing various extended vocal techniques, coupled with innovative arranging – all with the human voice!
The House Jacks are well-known as a cappella educators, providing extensive coaching to scholastic and professional groups, as well as corporate clients worldwide. Since its inception, The House Jacks have performed over 3,000 shows. The New York Times calls their vocal percussion “Astonishingly precise!” and San Francisco Magazine says “The House Jacks serve up one of the most entertaining live acts around.”
In Estonia, The House Jacks singers Mark Joseph, John Pointer, Nick Girard, Austin Willacy and Gregory Fletcher will give six concerts and offer unforgettable musical impressions in Viimsi, Keila, Narva, Rakvere, Paide and Rapla.
