Children’s Concert: Ravel, Pierné, Debussy

On 17 December, an exciting concert for little music lovers will take place in the Viimsi Artium Chamber Hall, which offers young listeners a great opportunity to get acquainted with the works of three French composers in a friendly casual atmosphere.

The three-quarter-hour program features music from Maurice Ravel, Gabriel Pierné and Claude Debussy, who were active in the early 20th century. Maurice Ravel’s colourful five-part suite “Mother Goose” is inspired by 17th-18th century French fairy tales, portraying in music the exciting adventures of a princess, a dwarf and other characters in a captivating way. Pierné’s six-part cycle “ Album pour mes petits amis” evokes the atmosphere and games of the world of childhood, but on the other hand, it is good learning repertoire for beginners. Debussy’s “Serenade for the Doll”, which concludes the concert, comes from six-movement suite for solo piano dedicated to the composer’s daughter.

The concert will feature renowned musicians of the younger generation Maria Elonen (flute), Kirke Pertel(oboe), Kevin Mattias Klasman (clarinet), Jakob Peäske (bassoon) and Jürnas Rähni (horn).
