Origami, the art of paper folding, is an integral part of both Japanese traditional and contemporary culture. The goal is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. In the workshop, participants learn to make classical origami including the paper crane, which is the best-known origami model in Japan. The paper crane is associated with health, happiness, and a long life.
The origami workshop is conducted by Shion Yokoo-Ruttas. The workshop fee includes all materials, and the completed work can be taken home by the participants.
