Favourite choral works by Collegium Musicale

The internationally acclaimed chamber choir Collegium Musicale turns twelve on October 3, 2022. Celebrating the choir’s birthday with a concert is a tradition for the choir. Collegium Musicale welcomes all its fans, friends, acquaintances, and choral music lovers at the newly opened Viimsi Artium Chamber Hall.

The programme includes the favorite choral works of the Collegium Musicale singers, which have been in the repertoire for 12 years. The choir is conducted by Endrik Üksvärav and Kristel Marand Chamber Choir Collegium Musicale is known and recognized for its sound and high-level performances. The choir’s repertoire extends from the Renaissance to the present, while the works of Estonian composers are especially valued. The choir’s twelve years of activity include concerts and festivals in Estonia as well as in Italy, France, Russia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Finland, Malta, Israel, Lebanon, Greece, the Netherlands, Japan, the USA and Canada.

Collegium Musicale has performed at major festivals such as “Rhein Vokal” and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival in Germany, the Al Bustan International Festival in Lebanon, “Moravsky Autumn” in Brno, the Czech Republic and “Wratislavia Cantans” in Poland. The collectives with whom the choir has performed include the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (Canada), the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra (Finland), the Raschér Saxophone Quartet (Germany), the NFM Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra (Poland) and the Baroque Ensemble Barrocade (Israel).

Collegium Musicale, which operates on a professional basis, gives ca. 40 concerts each year.
In 2017, the choir won the grand prix of the EBU international choral competition “Let the People Sing”. The Estonian Choral Association has recognized the Collegium Musicale three times with the title of Choir of the Year (2017, 2014 and 2011). In 2018, the Estonian Cultural Endowment’s Sound Art Endowment recognized the chamber choir Collegium Musicale and conductor Endrik Üksvärav with an annual award for brilliantly promoting Estonian choral music with exceptional artistic quality both in Estonia and abroad. The activities of the choir are supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Estonian Cultural Endowment and the East Tallinn Central Hospital.
